Formula and calculation method

ROI = (final value − investment cost) ÷ investment cost × 100%.

Worked example

A PLN 10,000 cost and PLN 12,500 final value mean a PLN 2,500 gain and ROI of 25%.

Limitations

  • Simple ROI excludes time, intermediate cash flows, risk, inflation, tax and the cost of capital.
